Zwischen der zweiten bzw. dritten Staffel von „Dark“ und „Stranger Things“ noch schnell ein musikalisch passendes Album neu entdecken? Dann ist „Goodnight Paradise“ meine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung.
Die eingängigen, flotten Gitarren-/Synth-Pop-Songs spiegeln den Retro-Charme der Serien sehr schön wieder, werden gelegentlich durch Balladen (wie „Cassandra“ oder „Miles And Miles“) sowie Boy/Girl-Gesang aufgelockert und bieten mit „Witchcraft“ einen ernsthaften Kandidaten für Auswahlliste der „besten Songs 2019“. Bei YouTube hat der Song 7.217 Aufrufe - unglaublich.
Auf einem Mixtape würde der Graveyard Club bei mir zwischen Letting Up Despite Great Falls und The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart landen.
Der Graveyard Club wurde 2013 von Matthew Schufman (Gesang, Keyboards) und Michael Wojtalewicz (Gitarre) in Minneapolis gegründet und von Cory Jacobs (Schlagzeug) sowie Amanda Zimmerman (Bass, Gesang) vervollständigt. What makes this album stand out are catchy rhythms in songs like “Red Roses,” “William,” and “Birdie.” They are clean, tight, and show the obvious professional attitude of the band. And although this reviewer enjoys the faster songs, Graveyard Club offers slower ballads like “Cassandra,” “Maureen,” and “Miles and Miles” for those who need a song so they can lean into their partner. (Think date night, at home, dancing in a living room lit by candles.) In these quieter songs, Matthew Schuman and Amanda Zimmerman vocals work like they were born to sing together.
