The Amazons - Future Dust

Vor zwei Jahren sahen wir beim Best Kept Secret Festival am frühen nachmittag die aus Reading stammende Band The Amazons. Mit „Future Days“ veröffentlichten sie nun ihr zweites Album, nachdem das Debüt „The Amazons“ bereits Platz 8 der UK-Charts erreichen konnte, und vermutlich dürften sie sich damit sowohl erneut in die britischen Top Ten spielen als auch im Zeitplan europäischer Festivals in den frühen Abend vorarbeiten. 

Denn mit Heavy-Riff-Monstern wie „Mother“ oder „End Of Wonder“ und schnörkellosem, energetischem Rock („Fuzzy Tree“, „Dark Visions“, „Warning Sign“) können sie dem Festival-Folk mächtig einheizen und es für die Hauptacts vorglühen. 

Auf dem von Catherine Marks (Foals, The Killers, Wolf Alice) produzierten Album bietet „Georgia“ noch ein Led Zepplin-Gedächtnis-Gitarrensolo und überrascht das eingängige „Doubt It“ mit Falsettgesang. Somit darf „Future Fans“ Freunden von Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age, Royal Blood und Black Rebel Motorcycle Club empfohlen werden. 

Opening track, and also first single, Mother possesses a distorted riff and a fierce, passionate chorus. It is a track of defiance states frontman Matthew Thomson “[Mother] challenges friends, gods and everyone in between”. Fuzzy Tree sees the band back to what they do best, producing a stunning track which is only going to sound even better live.
Played live on their most recent tour and during their session with BBC Radio 1 at Maida Vale, 25 goes hand in hand with its acoustic counterpart 25 (reprise) making it a truly unique number, unlike anything the band has done before.
Doubt It showcases the bands maturity, a track about a romantic encounter which encapsulates the journey that The Amazons have been on so far. A standout track upon Future Dust, Doubt It cements the groups as one of the most exciting bands of current British guitar music. (…)
Future Dust sees Reading four piece back and better than ever. The Amazons are certainly a band to keep a close eye on this year, as they look unstoppable.
