Low Roar - ross.

Auf Computerspiele vor Gericht, einem unserer anderen Blogs, sprechen wir heute über „Death Stranding“, die neueste Schöpfung von Hideo Kojima. Unterlegt ist das Spiel sowohl durch ältere als auch neue sphärisch-atmosphärische Musik von Low Roar, auf die Kojima in Reykjavik aufmerksam wurde. Dort ist die Keimzelle der Band, der der US-Amerikaner Ryan Karazija vorsteht, der mittlerweile nach Polen weitergezogen ist.

„ross.“ ist das intimste und akustischste der bisher vier Alben von Low Roar geworden („Low Roar“, 2011, „O“, 2014, „Once In A Long, Long While“, 2017). Passend dazu ist der Sänger aktuell solo unter dem Bandnamen auf Europatournee. Minimalistische Arrangemnets aus Gesang, Piano und akustischer Gitarre dominieren den Klang von „ross.“ und nur dezent erweitern Blechbläser, Synthesizer oder elektronische Klänge und Rhythmen den Songkosmos zwischen pastoralem Indiefolk und melancholischem  Dreampop. 

„ross.“ ist am 8. November über Tonequake Records digital und als CD erschienen, eine Veröffentlichung als LP soll einen Monat später erfolgen.

It will make you want to sail the ocean at sunset, go stargazing from a city rooftop, or embark upon a long walk on a foggy morning. Low Roar has always maintained those very natural, earthy undercurrents in their music, and it’s a motif that continues in plenty on their fourth full-length endeavor.
